Selection of regions to be studied and setting research plans
The "Committee to Promote Area Studies" consisting of academic experts was established, and selected Islamic regions and modern China as regions to be studied. Basic research plans for both regions were being developed at the same time, and the plan is already set for the Islamic region.
Promotion of Islamic area studies
NIHU and the universities involved had jointly established a basis for research focusing on Islamic area studies as shown below. An initiative to extend the research and establish a research network is also being carried out, mainly implemented by the Research Center on Modern Islamic Regions established in Waseda University.
