  Intellectual Property

NIHU participates in the “Project to Prepare a Headquaters for University Intellectual Property Management” implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, together with the other Inter-University Research Institutes, and is strategically creating, obtaining and utilizing intellectual properties within the organization. In order to achieve this, each institute comprising NIHU not only manages and operates effectively the intellectual properties created and accumulated in the process of research and education, but also has been preparing a system to actively disseminate the results to the broader society. The Intellectual Properties Administration Office promotes the preparation of such a system, and engages in efforts to spread information on intellectual property rights.

NIHU makes public the various databases held by each institute. However, in today’s world where protection of database rights is an important issue, it pays special attention to handling copyright in order to adequately protect the databases.
