The NIHU International Prize in Japanese Studies 2019

The first NIHU International Prize in Japanese Studies was awarded to Dr. Haruo Shirane, Professor of Japanese Literature and Culture and Chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University. At the awards ceremony, Professor Shirane gave a lecture entitled “Japanese Poetry, Gods, and the Environment--Views of Nature in Japanese Culture".
