NIHU Concludes Academic Exchange Agreement with Mongolian Academy of Sciences

 

On January 22, 2016, the National Institutes for the Humanities (NIHU) and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences concluded an agreement for academic exchange and cooperation. This agreement aims to promote academic exchanges and cooperation across research and educational activities conducted by both parties, to further advance mutual research and education and to contribute to the development of the local areas, in both Japan and Mongolia.

Under the agreement, collaborative activities of the NIHU Area Studies Northeast Asia ", one of NIHU’s Network-based projects will begin in the 2016 academic year. Also, the National Museum of Ethnology, a central player of NIHU Area Studies Northeast Asian, will set up a Center for North East Asian Area Studies on the Mongolian Academy of Sciences campus. At the same time, plans are in progress to establish a liaison office for the areas studies project in the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.

Mongolian Academy of Science Academy President Batbold.Enkhtuvshin and Institute of History and Archaeology Director, Sampildondov Chuluun Cholon, Mongolian Ambassador to Japan His Excellency Mr. Sodovjamts KHURELBAATAR and Ms. Chonoi KULANDA, Consul-General of Mongolian Consulate-General in Osaka attended the signing ceremony. “We hope that the liaison office will become a center for Northeast Asian studies and that the advancement of this field lead to mutual understanding of Japan and Mongolia" remarked the Ambassador.

The agreement will promote the development of joint projects and the exchange of researchers more broadly between the two organizations.
